Description of service(s) Individuals can apply for Employment Insurance (EI) through the Service Canada website or by visiting any Service Canada Centre.  
EI provides temporary financial help to unemployed Canadians while they look for work or upgrade their skills, while they are pregnant or caring for a newborn or adopted child, while they are caring for a family member who is gravely ill (compassionate care), or while they are sick. Active re-employment benefits and support measures are delivered in cooperation with the provinces and territories.
