Description & Services
Description of service(s) Science East's Mission:
To inspire and inform through hands-on science experiences.
Science East Science Centre is one of the most unique tourist attractions in Canada. All ages can enjoy the over 150 hands-on and interactive exhibits exploring science through technology, optical illusions, energy, animals, dinosaurs, anatomy, insects, deep space and more! Located in a former jail built in 1842, visitors will find exhibits in the basement museum exploring the jail's history and the role of DNA in forensics.
Science East is a registered charitable organization which operates New Brunswick’s science centre in Fredericton.
Some new exhibits are making their way onto the floor at Science East Science Centre. These include, but are not limited to, optical illusions, batteries, magnets, resonating rings, a hearing test, and an electricity-generating bicycle. In addition, Science East is home to a reaction test used in Formula One. Visitors can use the Batak Reaction Test to test speed, accuracy and reaction time.
Science East collaborates with the Faculty of Engineering at the University of New Brunswick. Currently, they are working on a pulley-chair system that is expected to be debuted at the centre soon.
Science East also offers summer camps for children. More information can be found on their website.
