|Description & Services|
|Description of service(s)||Meals-on-Wheels offers a hot meal program delivered at noon, Monday - Friday, in the Greater Saint John and Grand Bay-Westfield area. At this time, Rothesay and Quispamsis, Hampton area, etc., are served by the frozen meal program only, not the hot meal program.
The meals follow Canada's Food Guide and accommodate special diets, allergies, and dislikes. They are served on a short term or long term basis to those who, because of health, mobility, or motivation, are unable to prepare adequate meals for themselves.
The intent is to promote independence for the elderly population as well as assist other age groups following hospitalization, injury, or illness. Recipients pay all or part of the cost of the meal, or may qualify for assistance through government programs such as the Long Term Care Program of FCS, or the Department of Veterans Affairs.
